Open BPM settings
Click Edit layout, select BPM’s slot, then click Module settings in Motion Dock’s top bar. Double-clicking the slot in layout mode also opens its settings. Exit layout mode when you are ready to use the tool.
Settings save as you change them and carry across projects.
Settings control future actions. Changing them does not rewrite an existing grid or resequence layers.
Grid settings
| Setting | Default | Choices and behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Time Signature | 4/4 | 3/4, 4/4, or 6/8. BPM counts 3, 4, or 6 tempo beats per bar for downbeats and Bar spacing. |
| First Beat | At the playhead | Anchor at the current playhead, the selected range’s start, or the first detected onset. |
| Nudge (ms) | 0 | From -2000 to 2000. Negative moves the even grid earlier; positive moves it later. |
| Range | Work area | Work area or Full comp. Controls where the next grid writes markers. |
| Number the bars | On | Downbeat comments become bpm 1, bpm 2, and so on, with Downbeat Color. Off makes all comments bpm. |
| Downbeat Color | Orange | Label color for numbered downbeat markers. Has no effect when bar numbering is off. |
First Beat offers At the playhead, At the range start, and On the first detected onset. The onset choice needs a successful audio detection in this panel session. Anchor and range behavior are explained in Lay and replace a beat grid.
6/8 uses six tempo beats per bar. BPM does not reinterpret the entered BPM as a dotted-quarter pulse.
Downbeat Color offers None, Red, Yellow, Aqua, Pink, Lavender, Peach, Sea Foam, Blue, Green, Purple, Orange, Brown, Fuchsia, Cyan, Sandstone, and Dark Green.
Sequence setting
| Setting | Default | Range and behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Beats per layer | 1 | Whole values from 1 to 64. Sequence advances this many grid-marker intervals for each layer. |
The count follows marker spacing, including subdivisions or uneven peaks. The editing guide shows how to arrange layers along that rhythm.
