All functions respect the same selection modes. Hold Shift to add, Alt/Option to subtract, or Cmd/Ctrl to toggle. For the canonical shipped item list, see the Controls Reference.
Pattern Functions
Pattern functions work from Picky’s current candidate set (filtered visible layers), not from every layer in the comp.
Invert
Flips selection state across the candidate set. Selected layers become unselected and vice versa.
Odd
Selects odd-index layers from the candidate set.
Even
Selects even-index layers from the candidate set.
Every Nth
Selects every Nth layer from the candidate set using the current value. The - and + buttons change the value, clamped to 2–99.
Clicking the Every Nth label runs the selection. Changing the value with the steppers also triggers a selection immediately.
All pattern functions use layer index order.
Every Nth is a compound control, not just a button. The center label runs the selection, while the stepper buttons change the value and immediately rerun the selection.
This is why the item is functions-only and cannot be placed in the main toolbar.
Hierarchy Functions
Unparented
Selects candidate layers with no parent.
Parented
Selects candidate layers that have a parent.
Children
Selects candidate layers whose parent is one of the currently selected layers.
Requires an existing selection. If nothing is selected, Picky returns an error.
Siblings
Selects candidate layers that share the same parent as any currently selected layer.
If you have an unparented layer selected, other unparented layers count as siblings.
Requires an existing selection.
Track Matte Functions
Matted and Matte are not part of the default layout. Enable them by moving them from Disabled into Functions in the layout editor.
Matted
Selects layers that currently use a track matte.
Matte
Selects layers that are acting as track mattes. Picky evaluates Matte against all layers, not just the visible candidate set, so matte layers can be found even though After Effects treats them differently in visibility terms.
