At a standard dock size, Picky shows the toolbar grid with your active selectors, the top bar with search, functions, filters, and settings, and a modifier hint at the bottom.

Every action uses the same modifier grammar: plain click replaces, Shift adds, Alt/Option subtracts, Cmd/Ctrl toggles.

Who This Is For

Anyone working in After Effects who spends time clicking through timelines to select layers by type or pattern. Picky is especially useful in compositions with dozens or hundreds of layers.

How It Works

Most actions follow one model:

  1. Choose what to match: a layer type, a pattern, a relationship, or a name.
  2. Choose how to apply it: replace, add, subtract, or toggle using keyboard modifiers.
  3. Picky updates the current selection.

That grammar is consistent across the toolbar, the Functions menu, and Name Search.
