Motion Dock is free. It runs in After Effects 2022 or newer on macOS and Windows.

Install the extension

  1. Download Motion Dock from the Motion Dock page.
  2. Extract the downloaded ZIP to find the .zxp file.
  3. Close After Effects.
  4. Open a ZXP installer, such as the ZXP/UXP Installer from aescripts, and drag the .zxp into it.
  5. Wait for the installer to finish, then open After Effects.

Open the dock

Choose Window > Extensions > Motion Dock in After Effects. Dock the panel alongside your timeline or other panels, or leave it floating. Resize it to give your tools room.

On an empty layout, you should see Choose a starter, four starter choices and Build your own. Follow Your first layout to put a tool to work.

If Motion Dock is missing from the menu, check the installation before continuing.

Already using standalone tools?

All Motion Fun’s After Effects tools now live in Motion Dock. Install the dock once, then add the tools you want from its picker. The standalone After Effects extensions receive no further updates.

Petals for Illustrator stays its own extension. Motion Dock does not run in Illustrator.
