Add Yoink to Motion Dock

  1. Click Edit layout in Motion Dock’s top bar.
  2. Click an empty area of the layout and choose Yoink from the module picker.
  3. Click Exit layout mode to use the tool.

If Yoink is already in this layout, use its existing slot.

Save a PNG

  1. Open a composition in After Effects and move the playhead to the frame you want.
  2. Choose PNG in Yoink.
  3. Click the hand button, Yoink. You do not need to select any layers.
  4. Wait for the grab to finish. A Saved notification names the file, and a new thumbnail appears in the tray.
  5. Click the thumbnail to reveal the PNG in Finder or Explorer.

The PNG has the composition’s full pixel dimensions. Its name contains the comp name and the capture date and time, for example First shot_2026-10-18_17-05-00.png. Repeated grabs get unique filenames.

With the default options, it is saved in yoinks beside the project and copied to the clipboard. An unsaved project uses Desktop/yoinks. Paste into an app that accepts images or file attachments.

If your slot has no visible tray, open the sliders button to find Recent. Right-click Yoink also opens these options.

If the frame does not save

Open a comp to yoink it means Yoink could not find an active composition. Open the comp in its viewer and try again.

The render queue is busy means an After Effects render is running. Wait for it to finish. Other failures and clipboard problems are covered in troubleshooting.
