Click the sliders button or right-click Yoink to open its export options. Changes save as you make them and carry across projects. Grab at the top selects the output format.
The GIF section only affects GIF exports. The Output section applies to all formats.
Max width is dimmed until Size is Max. Region padding only changes an Alt-click crop.
GIF
| Option in the drawer | Default | Values and behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Size | 50% | 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, Max. Percentages scale the full comp or cropped region. |
| Max width | 640 | 16 to 4096 pixels. Used only with Max. Scale is calculated from the full comp width and never exceeds 100%. A cropped GIF can be narrower than this value. |
| Frame rate | 15 | 10 to 30 fps. Independent of the comp frame rate. |
| Loop forever | On | On repeats indefinitely. Off plays once. |
| Dither | Off | Adds an ordered dither pattern to soften color banding. Can increase file size. |
| Palette | Global | One palette for the whole GIF. Per frame makes a palette for each frame. See GIF quality choices. |
PNG and MP4 ignore these options. Rendered dimensions have a minimum of 4 pixels per side.
Output
| Option in the drawer | Default | Values and behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Region padding | 10 | 0 to 500 pixels around selected-layer bounds before scaling. Only used for Alt-click grabs. |
| Copy to clipboard | On | Copy each directly completed export as well as saving it. Media Encoder handoffs do not automatically copy. |
| Folder row | Project / yoinks | With no custom folder, use yoinks beside the saved project, or Desktop/yoinks for an unsaved project. Hover the folder name to read its full path. |
| Choose a folder, folder icon | No custom folder | Pick a destination for future grabs. |
| Back to yoinks/ beside the project, reset arrow | Disabled without a custom folder | Clear the custom destination and restore the default location. |
| Show in Finder, arrow icon | None | Open the destination folder, creating it first if needed. On Windows, opens Explorer. |
Numeric fields round to whole numbers and stay within their limits. Blank or invalid entries do not replace the current value.
Module settings labels
Motion Dock also exposes these settings through Edit layout, select Yoink, then Module settings. The same values use title case there: Yoinks Folder, Copy to Clipboard, Region Padding, Max Width and Frame Rate. The drawer’s Max is Max width there, and Loop forever is Loop.
Filenames and clipboard
Files use Comp name_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SS.ext. If that name already exists, Yoink adds 2, 3 and so on. Characters that cannot be used in filenames become hyphens, leading and trailing spaces or dots are trimmed, and the comp-name portion is limited to 80 characters. An empty result becomes Comp.
The clipboard contains a file reference. On macOS, PNG and GIF also include image data. Whether paste or drag works depends on the receiving app. The file remains saved if copying fails.
