Add Dispatch to Motion Dock
- Click Edit layout in Motion Dock’s top bar.
- Click an empty area and choose Dispatch from the module picker.
- Click Exit layout mode.
If Dispatch is already in this layout, use its existing slot.
Prepare one output
- Save your After Effects project in the folder where you want to keep your work.
- Select one comp in the Project panel. Set its work area to the part you want to export.
- Open Dispatch’s sliders button, or right-click Dispatch, to open Presets.
- Keep ProRes master selected. For this first run, set Output to AE default and leave Render at AE default. This uses your After Effects defaults without requiring a named template.
- Leave Folder, File, and Work area at their starting values. Close the editor with its X.
- Click Dispatch without holding any modifier keys.
You should see Queued 1 comp · ProRes master. A number appears on the main button. Click that number to show the Render Queue.
The new item should be Queued, with its time span matching the comp’s work area. Its output is inside renders/YYYY-MM-DD beside the project, with a name such as Intro_v01.mov. The extension comes from your actual output module, so it may differ from this example. No rendering has started.
The small number counts all items with Queued status in this project's Render Queue. This example has three. It is not limited to items added by Dispatch.
The path line previews the next output for the first target comp. It advances as names become reserved.
If you see No comp, select a comp in the Project panel or open one. Save first means the folder needs a saved project. If a template is missing, reopen the editor and choose AE default or an installed template before retrying.
Save the project again to retain your preset edit. To reverse the queue addition, use Edit > Undo in After Effects. Folders created on disk remain.
