Keep path chooses whether Separate adds frame samples on curved Position segments. Set it before clicking Separate.
Split Position into axes
- Select a layer, or select its Position property.
- Click More.
- Choose whether to enable Keep path beside Separate.
- Click Separate.
Two-dimensional layers get X Position and Y Position. Three-dimensional layers also get Z Position. Unkeyed Position can be separated too.
Separate uses the layer’s entire Position animation. Selected keyframes and the work area do not limit it. If Position properties are selected, their layers take priority over other selected layers. With no selected Position properties, it uses the selected layers.
Choose how to keep the motion
With Keep path off, the original key times and axis values are retained. Keymaster carries temporal ease influence to each axis and adjusts ease speed for that axis’s direction. It also carries interpolation, temporal continuity, auto-Bezier settings and supported key labels.
A curved spatial path can change when it becomes separate value curves. Turn Keep path on before separating if preserving that motion matters. Keymaster samples intermediate composition frames on non-Hold Position segments with nonzero spatial tangents. It adds linear keys on the axes and uses linear interpolation across those sampled segments. Segments with zero spatial tangents do not receive the extra samples.
Keep path works across the Position animation, including outside the work area. It approximates curved motion at frame intervals, so it can produce many keys. It does not promise an identical curve between those samples.
Check the result
Expand Transform in the Timeline. You should see the individual Position dimensions and their keys. Scrub the composition to check the motion. Use Edit > Undo once to return to combined Position.
Position is already separated or Those are already separated means no conversion is needed. In a mixed selection, already separated layers are skipped and listed in the success message.
Select a layer or its Position means Keymaster found no eligible selection. Position can’t be separated here means the selected layers have no Position that Keymaster can successfully separate. Locked layers stay locked and are skipped.
