Enter only what should change

  1. Select two or more comps in After Effects’ Project panel, or open one comp to work on it alone.
  2. Open Fits’ Settings tab.
  3. Enter the settings to change. Leave the other fields blank.
  4. Review the comp list, then click Apply to 2 comps, or the corresponding count.

Before entering values, the list shows each comp's size, frame rate, and duration. Afterward it shows the proposed changes. no change means that comp already matches.

The success message reports changed comps and total comps considered. Apply edits those comps directly. It does not create variants. Use Edit > Undo in After Effects to reverse the whole Apply action.

A single Project panel selection does not override another active comp. Check the list before applying. The source selection rules are the same as for variants.

Include nested precomps

Turn on Nested to include all levels of precomps used by the selected comps. Indented rows show them in the list. A shared precomp is processed once.

These are the existing source comps. Other compositions using the same precomp see its new settings too. The Apply button counts selected root comps; the success message includes the nested comps considered.

Use seconds, timecode, or frames

Duration accepts seconds, such as 5, or timecode, such as 0:00:05:00. Start accepts a start frame, such as 300, or timecode, such as 0:00:10:00. Start changes the comp’s display start, without shifting its layer timing.

Timecode accepts two, three, or four groups, read from the right as frames, seconds, minutes, and hours. A semicolon is accepted as a separator, but does not enable drop-frame calculations. Fits uses a rounded nominal frame base to calculate timecode, then divides by the comp’s actual frame rate.

If Frame rate is filled in, Fits applies it before calculating timecode. Otherwise each comp uses its own frame rate. Use plain seconds for the same duration across mixed frame rates. The accepted ranges are in the field reference.

Resize without moving content

Batch Width and Height change comp dimensions without moving or scaling layers. To center existing content while swapping orientation, use Swap. To make a differently sized copy, use Variants.

Clear fields or correct an entry

The eraser, Reset every field to – (unchanged), clears the form and turns Nested off. It does not undo changes already applied. Applied values remain in the form until you clear them.

Press Escape in a text field to clear that field. Enter finishes editing the field; it does not apply. Right-click Resolution or Keep fps to return that chip to unchanged.

An invalid field gets an error outline and Apply shows Check fields when there is room for the badge. Correct or clear that field before applying. With no setting entered, Fits shows Fill in a setting to change.
