In Motion Dock, enter Edit layout, select Fits, then click Module settings in the top bar. You can also double-click its slot in layout mode or right-click it and choose Module settings.
These preferences save as you change them and carry across projects. The Settings tab inside Fits is a separate form for editing compositions.
Choose output defaults here. Frame and safe-zone changes affect future Make actions. They do not update variants already created.
Preferences
| Setting | Default | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Frames | See the frame table below | Saved labels, dimensions, and display order. |
| Safe Zone Guide | Off | Adds a locked guide layer to every new outer variant. Shared with the guide icon in Variants. |
| Safe Zone Platform | All of them (safest) | Chooses All of them (safest), TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts for tall frames. Safe-zone rules explain the margins and shorter frames. |
| Variants Go To | A ”<comp> variants” folder | Creates or reuses that folder beside each source. The original’s folder puts new comps directly beside the source. |
| Move Locked Layers | Off | Lets Re-layout, Crop, and Swap temporarily unlock layers to move them, then restore their locks. Otherwise locked layers needing movement stay in place and are counted in the result. |

Frames format
Each entry ends with widthxheight, preceded by an optional label. Separate entries with commas, semicolons, or newlines. For example, Story 1080x1920, Square 1080x1080 creates two named frames. x, X, ×, and * are accepted between dimensions.
Dimensions must be whole values from 4 to 30000. Labels are trimmed and limited to 16 characters. Without a label, Fits uses a simple aspect ratio when both reduced sides are at most 32, otherwise the pixel size.
Invalid entries are skipped. If none are valid, the default frame list appears. Labels form internal identifiers without regard to case; repeated identifiers get dimensions appended once, and further collisions are skipped. Give each frame a distinct label to avoid ambiguity.
The custom frame popup adds entries to this same saved list.
Updates
The shared settings interface also includes Check for updates automatically, on by default. It looks for new versions when the tool opens.
