Which layers change

Layer actions use the selected, unlocked layers in the active composition. With nothing selected, hold Alt while clicking to use every unlocked layer. Alt does not expand an existing selection. Locked layers are skipped and counted.

Fit comp is the exception. It always uses all layers, including locked ones. See fitting a comp for its timing changes.

Preview and feedback

Hovering a button changes the preview and, where space allows, the hint below the buttons. The preview summarizes the outer span of up to 200 selected, unlocked layers. It does not show each layer separately. Without a usable selection, it shows a sample. Alt does not turn that sample into a preview of all unlocked layers.

The playhead actions show a time indicator. Work area shows its range. Fit comp changes the rail to show the proposed comp range. Shift and Alt update relevant hints and previews while held.

Move the pointer back into Snippy or return focus to its panel to refresh after changing the After Effects selection or timing.

Buttons are unavailable while an action is running. A successful change briefly animates the button and scissors. A message reports changed layers, with notes for skipped or unchanged targets. had none counts layers without eligible keys or markers. already fit counts unchanged layers. Already snug means the action made no change.

Button badges show counts or the fitted duration when there is room. In smaller cells they shorten to a count or disappear. Refusal badges can read No comp, No selection, No keys, No markers, No text, Outside, Nothing to trim, No layers, or a locked-layer count. Read the accompanying message for the cause and fix.

Slot layouts

Snippy rearranges the same eight actions and number field into a grid, a column, or a row. A narrow column keeps the actions in their usual order.

The preview bar and hint disappear when the slot is too small. Action labels also hide when there is no room. Hover an icon for its tooltip.

In a short row, icons run left to right in the order listed in the Actions table. Right-click the final field to switch between padding and reading speed.
