Add Tidy to Motion Dock
- Click Edit layout in Motion Dock’s top bar.
- Click an empty area of the layout and choose Tidy from the module picker.
- Click Exit layout mode to use the tool.
If Tidy is already in this layout, use its existing slot.
Sort one comp
- In After Effects’ Project panel, create a folder named
Tidy practice. Put a composition namedFirst tidydirectly inside it. - Select the
Tidy practicefolder in the Project panel. - Click Project at the top of Tidy. The scope changes to Tidy practice.
- Click Scan. Open the Unsorted row by clicking its name or count. The list should show
First tidywithCompsbelow it. - Click the wand at the top right of that list. Its tooltip is Sort into type folders.
In the Project panel, First tidy should now be inside Tidy practice/Comps. Tidy creates the destination folder as needed. The Unsorted count becomes a checkmark after the automatic rescan.
This first action only sorts. Leave Tidy all for when you have reviewed its included categories.
Return to the project
Click the back arrow to leave the list. Click the X beside the scope name to return to Project, then click the ring to scan the whole project.
To reverse the sort, use Edit > Undo in After Effects. Click the ring afterward to update Tidy’s report.
If the scope does not change, select the folder in the Project panel again. Select a folder in the Project panel means Tidy could not find a folder from the current selection.
