Choose a focused search folder

Click Scan, then open Missing to review the missing sources and their old paths. Click a row to select that item in the Project panel.

Enter a path in Folder to search…, then press Enter or click the link button, Relink from this folder. A path can start with ~ for your home folder.

Alternatively, click Choose a folder, or the folder-search action beside Missing. Confirming the folder chooser starts relinking immediately. You do not need to click the link button afterward.

Check the matches

Tidy searches the chosen folder and its subfolders. It first looks for the original filename, ignoring case. If that fails, it tries the filename without its extension. When several files match, the first one found wins.

Choose the narrowest useful folder, especially when exports share names or extensions have changed. Tidy does not ask you to resolve ambiguous matches. Inspect the repaired sources in After Effects.

For image sequences, make the original first-frame file available under its expected name. Tidy uses that match to replace the sequence. Keep the remaining frames beside it.

Relinking applies to missing items in the current scope, including those inside _keep. That folder protects items from moving and deletion, not source repair. Search limits are listed in Findings.

When the search fails

No matches means no sources were repaired. Try a more specific folder containing the expected names. Folder not found means the path does not exist. Can’t read that folder means Tidy could not list its contents. Correct the path or access, then retry. More recovery cases are in Troubleshooting.
