Tidy organizes and cleans the After Effects Project panel so you can spend less time sorting imports, removing clutter, and finding missing assets. It is a free micro tool in Motion Dock.

Start with Scan. It reads the project without changing it. You do not need an open composition or selected layers.

The seven rows cover sorting, empty folders, unused items, duplicates, missing files, missing fonts, and default comp names.

Review before you repair

After a scan, the ring shows a health score and each row shows a count. Click a row's name or count to inspect its list. Use the action at the right when you are ready to act.

The first five categories have cleanup actions. Fonts helps you find affected text layers. Naming selects comps for you to rename.

Choose how much to clean

Work on the whole project or choose one folder. Run one category at a time, or choose which categories Tidy all includes. Each cleanup is one After Effects undo step, including a combined Tidy all cleanup.

Tidy changes project items and references. Removing an item from the project leaves its source file on disk.

For a first result, sort a practice comp. You can learn the rest on an existing project without making the first cleanup a full project cleanup.
