In Motion Dock, enter Edit layout, select Tidy, and click Module settings in the top bar. You can also double-click the slot in layout mode or right-click it and choose Module settings.
Settings save as you change them and carry across projects. Rescan after changing a setting so the report matches the options your next cleanup will use.
Folders
Use / to nest folders. For example, Assets/Video sorts video into a Video folder inside Assets. Paths start inside the current scope.
| Setting | Default | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Comps | Comps | Comps used by no other comp. |
| Precomps | Precomps | Comps used by at least one other comp. |
| Video | Footage/Video | Moving footage, including image sequences. |
| Images | Footage/Images | Still images. |
| Audio | Audio | Audio footage. |
| Solids | Solids | Solid sources. |
| Vectors | Vectors | Files matched by the vector rules. |
| Data | Data | Files matched by the data rules. |
| Protected folder | _keep | Folder name whose contents are protected from moving or removal. |
Destination paths use at most four nonempty parts, each trimmed and limited to 60 characters. A blank path falls back to its default. Protected folder is one folder name, matched without regard to case. A blank value restores _keep; it does not disable protection. Its name is also trimmed and limited to 60 characters.
Protection does not exclude items from relinking, font reports, or naming reports. See protecting items.
File types
Enter comma-separated extensions. Matching ignores case. Spaces and semicolons also separate entries, and a leading dot is unnecessary. A rule holds up to 60 distinct extensions. Leaving a rule empty clears that extension list; the fallback classification rules still apply.
| Setting | Default extensions |
|---|---|
| Video | mov, mp4, m4v, avi, mkv, mxf, webm, mpg, mpeg, wmv, flv, 3gp, dv, r3d, braw, gif |
| Images | png, jpg, jpeg, tif, tiff, psd, exr, dpx, tga, bmp, webp, heic, hdr, iff, cin, sgi, dng, cr2, nef, arw |
| Audio | wav, mp3, aif, aiff, m4a, aac, ogg, flac, wma |
| Vectors | ai, eps, svg, pdf |
| Data | json, mgjson, csv, tsv, txt, xml |
Behavior
All three behavior switches start off. Enable only the changes you want, then rescan before running a cleanup.
| Setting | Default | Effect when on |
|---|---|---|
| Sort inside your folders | Off | Also sorts items out of folders you made. The protected folder still applies. |
| Remove unused comps | Off | Makes eligible unused comps removable by Unused and Tidy all. The chip in the Unused list changes this same setting. |
| Merge into locked layers | Off | Allows duplicate merges to replace sources on locked layers, then restores their locks. |
The saved Tidy all inclusions are changed with the left icons in the main panel, rather than in this settings form. Their defaults and behavior are listed with the controls.
