Work inside one folder

Leave Project selected to work across the project. To limit the work, select a folder in After Effects’ Project panel, then click Project in Tidy. Its label changes to the folder name. The scope includes that folder’s descendants, and Tidy creates its destination folders inside it.

If you select an item instead of a folder, Tidy uses its parent folder, provided that parent is not the project root. With no usable selection, you see Select a folder in the Project panel.

To return to the whole project, click the X beside the scope name, right-click the scope button, or Alt-click it. A scope change clears the report. Click Scan before continuing.

Review the destinations

Click Unsorted to inspect the list. Each row names an item and its destination. Click a row to select the item in the Project panel.

Click the wand beside Unsorted to move all eligible items in the scope. Tidy refreshes the report afterward. Source files stay where they are on disk.

Keep your existing organization

By default, Sort inside your folders is off. Tidy sorts loose items and items misplaced in its configured type folders, leaving items inside custom folders alone. Turn it on only when you want those items moved too, then scan again.

Protect items you want to keep

The default Protected folder is _keep. Create a Project panel folder with that name and put items you want to keep inside it, including any nested folders. Those items are protected from moving and deletion. Protection still allows relinking, font reports, and naming reports.

Set destination names and nested paths in Settings. The complete classification rules live in Findings.
